Just in case...
...you were thinking of visiting...

Never mind that the only terrorist attack ever committed on Japanese soil was carried out by Japanese... *cough*Asahara*cough* ...watch out for those foreigners!
Anyway, in other news, all my plans to conquer Fuji-san have been dashed by bad weather, so it's been a rather uneventful month, all told. Next year...
So, these days, I'm looking forward to a couple of other things. For a start, the temperature has finally dropped below 30 degrees - summer is finally over! This means I have a couple months of comfort to enjoy before it gets too cold, although with global warming lengthening the summer as it has, maybe winter won't be so bad, either.
Also, next month I'm taking a much-needed break from work and taking 4 weeks of intensive Japanese language courses. With any luck, I'll finally be able to manage an ongoing conversation... fingers crossed! The thing I'm most impressed with, though, is that this will be the first time in my life I've had a paid vacation! Thank you Japan!
I don't know if downtown Okazaki (the location of said courses) will be anything to write home about, but I'll try to at least get a pic or two...

Can you only climb Fuji in summer? (do the Kami get too angry the rest of the time??).
Good luck with your language immersion.
Normally, yes. In theory, you can climb any time of year, but except for summer, it's very very cold and usually covered in snow. Recommended only for expert mountaineers...
